A video “Methane Emissions Reduction is a Key Challenge of Our Time!” was developed

Video production of “Methane Emissions Reduction is a Key Challenge of Our Time!” video was completed. It was made to demonstrate Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V.'s (hereinafter - KPO) experience in monitoring and reducing methane emissions. The main goal of the video project is to emphasize the role of methane in climate change, demonstrate the advanced technologies implemented at KPO facilities, and inspire other industrial enterprises in Kazakhstan to take similar steps.

The process of creating the video included:
Visits to KPO production facilities for filming of key aspects of the emission monitoring and control systems.
Obtaining permits for filming, including the use of drones to demonstrate the scale and technical solutions at the site.
Interviews with experts and industry representatives who revealed important aspects of introduction of LDAR system (methane leak detection and repair), use of new generation cameras and Kazakhstan's participation in global initiatives.
Due to our experience in environmental protection, the script of the video was designed in such a way as to reveal the technical and environmental aspects of the problem in the most accurate and professional way, as well as to show the successful case of KPO as an example for the entire energy sector of Kazakhstan.

The content of the video reflects Kazakhstan's contribution to the Global Methane Pledge (GMP) initiative, emphasizing the possibility of a systematic approach to reducing methane emissions. The video highlights the advanced monitoring technologies used by KPO since 2015, including the introduction of the LDAR system and advanced Opgal EyeCGas 2.0 cameras, as well as KPO's successful journey through the OGMP 2.0 Partnership to achieve Gold Standard status.
The video premiered at the UN Conference of Parties on Climate Change (COP-29), where it was presented as a significant initiative by the Kazakhstan oil and gas operators. The video emphasizes that reducing methane emissions is not only a feasible task, but also a necessary step to achieve international environmental standards and sustainable development.
Target audience of the video: representatives of government agencies, international organizations and industrial enterprises participating in SOR-29. The video will also be posted on the official platforms of KPO and the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan for wide access.

The project demonstrates the importance of a systemic approach, innovative solutions and international cooperation in addressing climate change.
